Isabella Naddeo, a senior at Trinity High School, has won the annual scholarship from the Primo Italiano Lodge #2800 of the Sons and Daughter of Italy. The scholarship was awarded to Ms. Naddeo at the lodge meeting on May 16, 2022.
Ms. Naddeo will use the $2500 scholarship this fall at Washington & Jefferson College, where she plans to major in biology on the pre-healthcare track and compete in tennis, swimming and diving.
At Trinity High School, she serves as captain of the varsity swim and tennis teams, and is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, HOSA Future Health Professional club, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) club, Trailblazers club, and Spanish club.
She earned first place awards at the regional and state Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Competitions for her AP Physics project.
The annual scholarship recognizes an outstanding senior of Italian American heritage. Applicants are asked to submit an essay about how Italian American customs and traditions are reflected in their daily lives.
Ms. Naddeo’s winning essay focused on her appreciation of family, faith, traditions, and work ethic in all of her endeavors.
“Isabella epitomizes everything that our scholarship is about,” said Reed Vaira, chair of the scholarship committee.
Ms. Naddeo is the daughter of John and Kelly Naddeo of Washington.
